Block Island Ballard's, Bluffs, and Beaches

If you are from Newport (or anywhere in Rhode Island), you have for sure taken a day trip over to Block Island. The little Island, like Newport is a tourist trap, and of course I fell in. About a week ago, I had the pleasure of being able to take a Ferry ride from Point Judith over to Block Island and spend the day over there.  With only a day, I had to make sure I made the most of my time there. First, I spent my morning relaxing  over at Ballard’s Beach. Thank God I did!  The weather was so hot that there was nothing I wanted to do more than soaking up the suns rays on the beach. Of course I had to go over to the tiki bar and get myself a specialty Piña Colada in a Pineapple (won’t get into details about that but it was delicious). After spending a couple hours on the beach,  I was delighted when a friend of mine suggested going to the Bluffs— a secluded, beach area that could be out of a catalog advertising a tropical island. I had never been there, and it was the perfect opportunity to explore something new.  I could have stayed on the beach forever. My only complaint is the wooden stairs—fun to go down, a hike to go up. Sadly, around evening time it was time to catch my ferry back to Point Judith. If you are looking for a fun day trip that is a complete escape from your everyday 9-5, Block Island is the place to go!
