We tend to be rather island-centric here on Aquidneck Island. There are however, no shortage of summer adventures within a short distance that only require a little imagination and willingness to explore outside of our own magical setting.

One of those adventures happens to be lunch at Tallulah’s Shack, or affectionately known as “The Shack” at Dutch Harbor Boat Yard. At the west side of Conanicut Island, you can access The Shack by bicycle or foot, car, or boat. (If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can boat over and tie up at the public docks, or hop on the Jamestown-Newport Ferry). The small shingled shanty offers Mexican-inspired “to-go” tacos, made with the freshest ingredients. Think: fish tacos with the perfect hint of lime juice, or shrimp tacos with pickled radish and salsa fresca. Their most favorited menu item are their lobster tacos – and enjoy with pineapple or orange soda.

The setting, as much as the food, is perhaps what lends to such a special experience. While The Shack is situated amongst a working boat yard, this side of the island is relatively quiet and serene – a destination sought after by salty summer adventurers. Stay inspired, love where you live, and make The Shack your next summer luncheon!
