The Sea Star Collection Store: Grand Opening

Our beloved Sea Star Collection will launch their storefront grand opening at 148 Bellevue Avenue, Newport with a ribbon cutting ceremony tonight, April 12, 2012. Open for business on Friday, April 13, 2012!!

We have loved perusing the Sea Star Collection since its inception late last year, when owner, Pam Akgun, launched the online store. The spirit of sea-side living is brought to life through select housewares, limited edition jewelry, and quality Giclee reproductions of Pam’s original artwork.

Saturday marked the 5th Annual Aquidneck Island Paddle Race Day & Waterman Competition. With blue skies and a little hearty breeze to boost friendly competition, the paddling could not have been better. Following the series of paddle competitions, competitors enjoyed awards and then one heck of a barbecue on the beach, thanks to the Preppy Big BBQ. Third beach was a buzz with high spirits and cheer, and the occasional scheming for next year’s race. We could not have done it without the support of so many individuals, and are pleased the fun could benefit three local organizations.

(For now, I’d like to thank our rock-star photographer, Melissa Quintal, for taking outstanding photos and in turn, allowing me to share this day with you).
