RIPCORD BETTY is a power pop, original band featuring electronic and analog beats, killer lead vocals by Newport Songstress Sarah Kirwin, Bud Boyd on guitar, Adam Askew on bass, Barbara Kirwin (Sarah’s MOM!!) on keys, and Albert Ibbotson on the electronic drums.
Joining forces in November, RIPCORD BETTY’s song collection is comprised mostly by covers however the band just wrapped shooting their music video for their premier original song, Return my Heart which was shot throughout Providence and Newport. Sarah’s musical inspiration comes from her life experiences- the good, the bad and the ugly. She finds that having a connection to a song, whether it’s a cover or an original, makes it more emotional and relateable to the audience. Kirwin says she “gets a kick out of analyzing radio hits, trying to figure out the appeal is- whether its a catchy melody, quotable lyrics, or just a beat that i want to shake my booty to-’ cause thats the kind of music i want to create!”
