The Deluxe Clutch

As the temperature begins to rise above freezing here in Newport, we are chomping at the bits to break out our spring wardrobe. One accessory we absolutely love to don in the Spring is the clutch. This no-strap purse is a great way to bring some color and texture into a mono-colored get-up. This season, shops like J.Crew and Tory Burch are offering up some gorgeous clutches in spectacular colors and prints. We love the idea of pairing a colorful floral clutch with an all white ensemble- or better yet- with white jeans and an equally as colorful striped top!

Anchors Away

An anchor is used to connect a ship to the bed of a body of water to prevent the vessel from drifting due to wind or current. Being that we live in one of the sailing capitals of the modern world- anchors are everywhere and have seeped into the world of mainstream fashion through accessories and prints. Local designers like Kiel James Patrick has made the anchor one of his signature designs while long time favorites like J.Crew continue to use anchors as a staple print on cotton dresses, silk tops and knit scarves. Amid the maritime culture of our dear Newport we have come to gravitate towards the universal anchor motif as it’s a symbol of temporary permanence- a way of saying we are here for now but we have the freedom to drift when we are good and ready.

Throw a cozy animal print scarf around your neck when donning an all black dress & tights get up and you will instantly feel alive again. We are loving animal print, gold jewelry and a pop of bright color- say neon pink or yellow to really wake you up! It’s Friday people, time to get decked for the weekend- we recommend you bring out YOUR inner animal ASAP!

Once seen primarily on gangsters and rap stars, the gold chain has swept into mainstream jewelry trends. Now seen on fancy ladies sporting tweed Chanel blazers to Brooklyn hipsters pairing gold chain link bracelets with rocker cutoff t-shirts. We love the look of gold chain link necklaces and bracelets – accent an otherwise casual jeans and white button up with a flash of gold around your wrist and voila! Instant chic. Pair those hot colored trousers we are seeing everywhere with a black t-shirt and gold chunky gold chain necklace and you are immediately propelled to accessory greatness! Let’s hear it for the gold-chain revival- we’re obsessed.
