Let’s face it, natural light is the best when it comes to interior design. There’s nothing better than large windows that the sunlight can cascade through, illuminating the entire room and yielding a delicious warmth that only the sun can deliver. One of our absolute favorite features in a home are skylights. Skylights in the kitchen, in the bedroom and even in the bathroom- these overhead windows allow bright light to flood in making everything look so much better.  Here’s a look at some of our favorite takes on these heavenly panes!

A Victorian era staple experiencing a recent revival in today’s home decor, the Balloon Chair is a striking statement piece that is sure to liven up any room in the home.  As versatile as they are attractive, these pieces work in almost any setting. Depending on the fabric, they can also be as classic or modern as you’d like. Place one at each end of a long dining room table for a dramatic effect, or simply position one in your living room to complement your other furniture.

Twin beds aren’t necessarily only for the kiddos. We love the look of matching twin beds in either the guest room or in the kids’ room.  Add sophistication to the twin look with dramatic hues and geometric linen patterns. Dress the beds in luxurious, high-thread count sheets, plush accent quilts folded down to showcase a neutral base linen.  Sweet dreams. xo

Old McDonald shouldn’t be the only one who gets to enjoy the rustic architecture of barns. We are loving the look of re-purposed barn doors inside the home. Put on a sliding track or opening traditionally into a living room- barn doors add a touch of pastoral chic to an urban interior pallet. We love them best when contrasted against uber-modern decor. Sharp lines and mod lighting fixtures juxtaposed with large, wooden gate-like doors. The first image below is taken at one of our new rental properties located in Middletown, RI which boasts a super-charming barn door separating the kitchen and dining area from the living room.

The pinacle piece that truly makes a living room is the sofa. Grand and cushy, upholstered in a soft, luxurious fabric, a great sofa is irresistible.  Luring us in, inviting us to cozy up in the comfortable cushions to enjoy a great book, a romantic black and white film or even just some great company and conversation. Below are a few sofas that we find to be absolutely wonderful!
