Twin beds aren’t necessarily only for the kiddos. We love the look of matching twin beds in either the guest room or in the kids’ room.  Add sophistication to the twin look with dramatic hues and geometric linen patterns. Dress the beds in luxurious, high-thread count sheets, plush accent quilts folded down to showcase a neutral base linen.  Sweet dreams. xo

A Murphy bed, also called a wall bed, pull down bed or fold-down bed is a bed that is hinged at one end to store vertically against the wall, or inside of a closet or cabinet.   This unique interior design feature is named after Mr. William Lawrence Murphy, who developed this innovative concept with romance in mind.  According to legend, William was wooing an opera singer while living in a one-room apartment in San Francisco. The moral code of the time frowned upon a woman entering a man’s bedroom. Hence Murphy’s invention converted his bedroom into a parlor, enabling him to entertain. Very sneaky indeed!

In modern times, Murphy beds are used for space-saving purposes, much like trundle beds, and are popular where floor space is limited, such as small homes, apartments, mobile homes and college dormitories. In recent years, Murphy bed units have included options such as lighting, storage cabinets, and office components.  One of our Perry Street Studio apartment rentals featured below boasts a Murphy bed and is coming available this June!

All of this sunshine has us dreaming of warm weather.  With warm weather, comes bright colors, citrus fruits and light-weight  fabric. We absolutely love tangerine- in our wardrobes, as accessories, in our homes. Something about this bright color keeps us warm during these last hours of winter. Here’s wishing you a sunny and bright day!

There’s something old-Hollywood-esque about a perfectly loaded bar cart in the home. So be it a golden bamboo cart or an industrial steel and glass cart- the display itself lends a distinguished feel to any room. Stock your favorite cordials, adorn with some beautiful vintage glassware, pop a vase with colorful blooms and voila! You’re instantly high design. Cheers!

Functionally, tiled rooms are a great way to defend against moisture. Fashionably, they are a fantastic way to add color and texture to the walls. So be it stucco, subway or porcelain,  tiles take many shapes and forms. We love patterned tiles on stairways and also intricately laid mini tiles on bathroom walls.  Below are a few beautifully tiled rooms that have caught our eye!
