“Industrial Chic” is a phrase that has long been used in the design world, but an aesthetic I very much admire and should not be overlooked. The feel and function can be achieved with any budget – and for most of my design projects, the budget is lean. If there is anything I’ve mastered, it’s the interplay between high and low in the design scheme. As evidenced by the selections above, you can even source from Ikea. When I think of this phrase – my mind goes to the coveted Cartier LOVE bracelet – that perfect symbol of elegance in a simple yellow gold with its screw motif. You’ll often see a variety of textures and materials used, from wood to steel to brass. To really succeed in securely this aesthetic, I will often thread in soft materials to balance out the bold elements. The emerald sofa above is a perfect example – a slightly modern sofa with brass stiletto legs juxtaposed with a scrumptious cotton velvet fabric make for an alluring piece.
