Chippendale on Cliff Terrace

In real estate, you see A LOT. I particularly love when I can extract a good theme when viewing and evaluating properties and 9 Cliff Terrace is a perfect example. This exquisite seaside rental property has so much to offer, but what I loved observing is the usage of Chinese Chippendale fretwork patterns on the exterior of the property. The style is actually quite prevalent in Newport, Rhode Island design and architecture, dating back to influences from Thomas Chippendale (1718-1779), England’s infamous furniture maker. The elegant motif is a marriage of Chinese and Asian designs that became incredibly sought after. The exterior details at 9 Cliff Terrace showcase this style beautifully and especially against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, it offers a touch of geometric whimsy with a nod to the past.
