This weekend, Libby Kirwin Real Estate is pleased to fuse 2 of our favorite things together: Real Estate and YOGA! Whilst hosting an Open House at 31 Carter Drive in Portsmouth from 10am to 1pm, the lovely Hillary Olinger will be hosting a trunk show featuring NUX yoga gear. This is in perfect timing for Libby’s 30 day personal yoga challenge.  So grab your morning cup o’ joe and head on out to Portsmouth to view a freshly renovated home and to snag some of the season’s hottest workout gear. Namaste.

One thing we can appreciate is one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. More specifically, we’re loving multi-media inspired cuff bracelets. On a weekend trip to Manhattan we purchased a unique vinyl cuff, actually made from a record- morphed into a bracelet and hand-painted with a colorful design. It was at that moment that we developed an appreciation for multi-media inspired jewelry. Paper machet, plastic, metals and more- all with the right presentation can produce a perfectly innovative accessory to complement any outfit.

We are always so excited when a new business opens in Newport- especially one that offers delicious food, cool ambience and great drinks!  Allow us to present the newly opened Wharf Pub on Bowen’s Wharf.  With a tantalizing menu including gastro-pub cuisine (think bacon-wrapped tater tots- HELLO!!), the Wharf Pub is the perfect winter spot. Cozy up to the wooden plank bar to sip on a microbrew or settle into a comfortable booth to indulge in some well-deserved comfort food.   With rustic pub-chic decor (rambling chandeliers, swine-inspired artwork, vintage heavy velvet curtains and perfectly placed chicken wire) your senses will be awakened at this new hot spot. Be sure to check it out this weekend, it’s directly across from it’s sister restaurant, Diego’s.

Alas, the world didn’t end today and we all have a few more days to squeeze in that last-minute holiday shopping. Look no further than the luxe denim shop on Bellevue Avenue, Laura Jean Denim.  A staple boutique where Libby gets several pieces of her signature wardrobe, we’re always greeted with a warm smile and over-the-top cool ambiance every time we walk through the doors.  Featuring trendy brands like Paige, Hudson and Joe’s- the denim selection is the best you will find in Newport by far- plus the fact that they carry Frye boots pretty much escalates them to the top of our favorites list!

Shop owner Laura Jean opened the shop in the summer of 2005 and has been one of Newport’s premier specialty stores every since.  If you have had the pleasure of meeting Laura Jean in person, you will see instantly that she exudes the style and finesse that only a hip fashionista can possess. We are so thankful to have a store like Laura Jean Denim here in Newport- it’s often times our saving grace!

This time of the year is particularly stressful. Besides the holidays, the weather is getting colder and our bodies are at high risk for catching germs and getting sick. One of Libby’s favorite ways to combat stress and to stay healthy throughout the winter is to practice yoga. Lately, she’s been attending classes at Newport Power Yoga led by Dina Jenks. Dina began practicing yoga back in 1998 and loved it so much that she instantly felt her calling as an instructor. Receiving her certification from Nosara Yoga Institute in tropical Costa Rica, Dina has been teaching various different style of yoga ever since. With a focus on Ashtanga, Dina’s classes have a strong foundation in alignment, movement and breath- all of which will certainly aid in keeping your body and mind in pristine health through the winter months. We encourage you to try out Newport Power Yoga if you have not already! Namaste!
