No, we’re not talking about Ireland…we’re talking about the absolutely stunning color of emerald! While scanning through another one of our favorite mags this past weekend we were drawn to this magnetic color of deep, sparkling, pop-off-the-page -green. Emerald is a captivating color that we love to see in fashion, jewels (obvi!) and interior design. Below are some of our favorite takes on this glorious green.

With temperatures dropping these days, sometimes our wardrobes tend to get a little drab. We gravitate towards blacks, grays and neutrals out of habit. Our summer whites and brights are packed away. Among the darkness of winter (and our wardrobes) there is a salvation print that will jazz up your ensemble. Be it daytime or night time, animal print accessories have a way of snapping you back into mainstream haute couture and out of your winter  slumber. Pair your favorite jeans with a white button up and a leopard print cardigan and ZING! You’re back! Throw a cozy animal print scarf around your neck when donning an all black dress & tights get up and you will instantly feel alive again. We are loving animal print, gold jewelry and a pop of bright color- say neon pink or yellow to really wake you up!  It’s Friday people, time to get decked for the weekend- we recommend you bring out YOUR inner animal ASAP!

On this blustering day in Newport, we would love to be at home cuddled up on the sofa with a cup of hot chicken soup. The wind is whipping outside and the temperatures are in the chilly mid-30′s. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. If you need some inspiration for dinner tonight, check out the below tasty recipe that will be sure to warm you up!

Chicken Tortellini Soup

2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) chicken broth
2 cups water
3/4 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
1-1/2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
1 package (9 ounces) refrigerated cheese tortellini
2 celery ribs, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

In a large saucepan, bring broth and water to a boil; add chicken. Reduce heat; cook for 10 minutes.
Add the remaining ingredients; cook 10-15 minutes longer or until chicken is no longer pink and vegetables are tender.

Yield: 8 servings (about 2 quarts).

Yesterday, the LKRE team attended the annual Chocolate Brunch at Ocean Cliff Resort which raised an impressive $47,000+ in funds for the Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties. The sun was shining and the view was pristine- the food was absolutely decadent and the vibe was posh and elegant. Greeted with mimosas as we entered the ballroom, guests were dressed in their Sunday best as tunes by the Dick Lupino band trailed off in the background. The aroma of cocoa-laced cuisine danced throughout the room, building the anticipation of when brunch was actually served. There was an extensive silent auction in the foyer offering luxury items ranging from weekend getaways, family photo shoots and stunning artwork.

As we took our seats which overlooked a sparkling Narragansett Bay- we were greeted by the hostess with the mostess, Janis Gordon who threw this fabulous shindig together with her trusted team. Our fearless leader Libby (who served as co-chair of the event) was invited to the stage where she eloquently expressed her gratitude towards the Visiting Nurse Services as they were instrumental in her mother’s recovery from cancer years ago. Once the speaking portion concluded, we were free to enjoy the tantalizing menu which we’d been waiting for- any how delicious everything was. One of our favorites was the Hot Cocoa bar- adorned with rich gourmet toppings like shaved white chocolate, ground espresso chips, peppermint stick, ginger cubes and freshly whipped cream!

A huge thank you to all who supported this event!

It seems like only yesterday, but several years ago on November 3rd, Libby got herself dolled up for her first date with her now husband Kevin. They enjoyed a lovely dinner at Gold’s in Middletown where sparks flew and Libby felt that feeling that things were just going to work out wonderfully with this man. Kevin is such a catch- handsome, friendly, generous and really funny too. We are so happy that Libby and Kevin found each other in this chaotic world. Their forces combined create positive vibes, strength and motivation- the stuff that great relationships are made of.  Happy “First Date” Anniversary! XOXO
