This past weekend, we were blessed with warm weather and bountiful sunshine- all of the ingredients necessary to prove that summer truly is here! While last week we saluted neutrals, this week, we celebrate COLOR- more specifically our 2 favorite colors together, acqua and coral. These 2 hues, indigenous to sunsets, beachside fun and sail boat soirees, look stunning as accessories, dresses and even inside the home. Complement a plush aqua chair with a bright coral accent pillow or don a gorgeous turquoise necklace when wearing a blazing orange maxi dress. Whichever way you decide to rock it, this dynamic color combo is bound for glory!

When we think of summer, most of the time we instantly think of bright colors. Vibrant corals, stunning blues and we can’t forget the metallics. Neutral colors often are forgotten about, taken advantage as an “old faithful” clutch in our closets that are faithfully ready to rescue us when we can’t seem to decide which colors go best with each other. When it is time to take a break from the intensity of color- neutrals will be there- a calming fashion pallet that seems to always look great on fresh, sun-kissed skin and salty locks.

This summer we are drawn to black + white patterns- more specifically to zebra print. Done right, this wild print can look elegant…however done wrong, and it could turn out to be a hot mess! Zebra print can be used tastefully if you add as an accessory to either an room in the home or to an ensemble.

Perhaps when you think of the classic white button up shirt, you are reminded of the epic 80′s movie scene when Tom Cruise bares all below the waist in nothing but his tighty-whities and a button up white oxford as he shakes his tush to Bob Segar’s Old Time Rock & Roll.  Or perhaps those of you who are more refined (eh-hem), instantly think of fashion icon Carolina Herrera who has claimed the white button up as a main staple in her elegant wardrobe- though usually paired with ornate long skirts or beautifully tailored trousers. Don it with skinny jeans, flats and a string of pearls or with a sophisticated pencil skirt and a slick pair of stilettos, this piece can certainly transcend the borders between casual and formal. Fashionista Olivia Palermo rocks a white oxford every chance she gets, exuding an effortlessly chic persona while Hollywood royalty like Angelina Jolie showcase the white button up as formal yet relaxed paired with a slim fitting skirt and ballet flats. Either way, one thing is clear- the white button up shirt is a versatile wardrobe piece that we should all certainly own.

Back in the 1960′s, famed hairdresser Vidal Sassoon worked his magic on actress/icon Mia Farrow’s hair before she starred in Rosemary’s Baby. Sassoon was a fan of low-maintenance styles, and what could be easier than chopping it all off? “The Pixie Cut” was a marked departure from looks that tethered a woman to hot rollers and piles of bobby pins, and the cut’s emphasis on the face helped usher in a new kind of sexiness. Since then, starlets, models and other daring females have been rocking The Pixie Cut. Certainly not everyone can pull off this look- one must have strong facial structure and a bit of an edge.  We love this look!
