Let’s face it, natural light is the best when it comes to interior design. There’s nothing better than large windows that the sunlight can cascade through, illuminating the entire room and yielding a delicious warmth that only the sun can deliver. One of our absolute favorite features in a home are skylights. Skylights in the kitchen, in the bedroom and even in the bathroom- these overhead windows allow bright light to flood in making everything look so much better.  Here’s a look at some of our favorite takes on these heavenly panes!

This summer we are drawn to black + white patterns- more specifically to zebra print. Done right, this wild print can look elegant…however done wrong, and it could turn out to be a hot mess! Zebra print can be used tastefully if you add as an accessory to either an room in the home or to an ensemble.

A Victorian era staple experiencing a recent revival in today’s home decor, the Balloon Chair is a striking statement piece that is sure to liven up any room in the home.  As versatile as they are attractive, these pieces work in almost any setting. Depending on the fabric, they can also be as classic or modern as you’d like. Place one at each end of a long dining room table for a dramatic effect, or simply position one in your living room to complement your other furniture.

The concept of a ladder typically evokes upward mobility.  Usually seen outside in construction sites, we are loving the look of ladders INSIDE the home. Used as storage systems to drape towels or linens over or creatively hung in the kitchen as a pots & pans rack- the ladder has proven that there are many more uses for it beyond the basic climb. However, the standard utility of a ladder inside the home allows for cathedral ceiling storage- no longer confined to cabinets only available within arm’s reach- the ladder allows you to store your goods far above the normal height which leave you plenty of room for your everyday items.

Chances are, if you have a useable attic in your home that it’s crammed with boxes of old holiday decorations, the eves are coated in a thick blanket of cobwebs and it smells musty and damp. Alas, we have recently become obsessed with the idea of finished attics- a genius way to extend the space in your house in a non-conventional way. Those cobwebby eves can instead be seen as chic “exposed beams” and the slanted ceilings can be seen as intentional loft-style architecture. Below are some takes on finished attics done right.
