Our new listing, 89 Meadowlark has us thinking all things summer. We can’t help but be enchanted by the home’s stunning veranda – the lattice work, the greenery that encapsulates the outdoor oasis, and all the entertaining possibilities that follow suit. This home is serious lifestyle. (Might we mention, this is only the exterior… have a look at the interior, here).

The veranda practically comes alive in our thoughts – evening candlelight dancing throughout the length of the veranda…the scent of potted gardenia…the hum and laughter from guests adorned in a summer glow…the faint flutter of Van Morrison in the background.

As 89 Meadowlark flirts with summer, we thought we’d offer up a summer cocktail recipe, inspired by our Brand Contributor, Caitlin, of C&C Consulting, and her recent trip to Napa.

THE BASIL LIMONATA

1 cup fresh basil, loosely packed

1 cup sugar

1 3/4 cup water

1/2 cup sparkling seltzer

6 oz Vodka

Ice cubes

1 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed

  1. In a small saucepan, prepare a simple syrup by combining basil, sugar and water. Simmer until the sugar is dissolved (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat, let cool.
  2. After the mixture has cooled, remove the basil and transfer to another container. Store the simple syrup in the refrigerator. (Keeps for several weeks).

To Prepare:

Mix the lemon juice with the simple syrup and cold water. Refrigerate until ready to use.
To serve, fill 2-3 glasses with ice, pour in Limonata and garnish with a lemon slice and fresh basil.
