Summer time is in full swing and we must admit, we absolutely LOVE the feeling of the warm sunshine on our skin. However, we must take necessary precautions to avoid the dangers of the sun. Use SPF, cover up with hats, sunglasses and lightweight clothing. This Saturday, we’re looking forward to supporting the cause at the annual Martinis for Melanoma event at O’Brien’s from 6-9pm. Local Newporter, Tim Fater sits on the board of the Melanoma Foundation of New England and is one of the motivating forces behind this event. Fater, who was diagnosed with Melanoma in 2005 when he was 21 years old is on a mission to educate the public about this very preventable disease that if ignored can be deadly. The event on Saturday is designed to be laid back and fun, a casual atmosphere that will serve as a platform to create awareness about Melanoma. The event will feature great raffle prizes and lots of suncare giveaways! We’ll see you there!
